[Shuangjie✚Redemption] [Photographer Lin Qiao × Doctor Gu Cheng]
She spent eighteen years traveling across the mountains and rivers, writing every scene as an unsendable letter; he stayed at the end of the road and received every letter in his heart.
When Lin Qiao was seven years old, her parents worked outside the home, and she was considered by the villagers to be the "unwanted child." The neighbor boy Gu Cheng gave her a White Rabbit toffee, a kraft paper notebook, and a promise: "When you travel around the world, I will look at every photo you take."
When Gu Cheng was twelve years old, his father had an accident on a construction site, and his family moved back to his hometown in Guizhou overnight. No goodbyes, no contact information. Only a locked door was left, and weeds slowly growing out of the crack.
For the next eighteen years, Lin Qiao took the old camera and the notebook he gave her, taking pictures from the Milky Way in Daocheng to the snow-capped mountains in Tibet, from the lakes in Xinjiang to the rime in Changbai Mountain. There was a line written on the back of each photo: "Gu Cheng, I want to show you this one too." But she couldn't send it - she didn't know where he was.
Gu Cheng became a rural doctor in the mountains of Guizhou. He also has a notebook filled with her work cut out from newspapers and magazines. She wrote "Where were you" at the end of each page and he wrote "She did it" next to each clipping. The two people are more than a thousand kilometers apart, each writing in his own notebook, each waiting for someone who doesn't know whether he will come.
Until one day, she accepted a shooting assignment in Guizhou.
