You Bully Me? You Deceive Me? Then I'll Send You All to Hell

Lin Tingxue lost her birth mother at seven. For the next nine years, her stepmother, Jiang Tong, doted on her as if she were her own daughter. Lin thought herself lucky to have found a second good mother.

On the year she came of age, she overheard Jiang Tong and her stepsister plotting beneath the veranda: her birth mother, Wen Ruyan, had been poisoned to death, and Lin was about to be sent to the palace to become one of the living dead in its inner chambers.

The woman who had called her “good girl” for nine years was the murderer of her birth mother.

Lin Tingxue neither cried nor made a scene.

The gentle, well-behaved young lady of the Marquis’s household remained unchanged, but from that day on, she began investigating the old case, laying secret plans, and winning over witnesses. She had Qiao Xiang keep an eye on Jiang Tong, and persuaded Qinghe to switch sides and reveal the truth, gradually bringing Jiang Tong down from her position as mistress of the household.

Jiang Tong suffered a stroke and was sent back to the Jiang family after being divorced. Lin Jinxuan, driven to desperation, failed in an assassination attempt and killed himself instead. Lin Jingning drugged a commandery princess and tried to frame Lin, but the Court of Judicial Review sentenced him to life imprisonment. Not one of the three escaped.

Even as Jiang Tong lay in bed, unable to move, she kept muttering to herself: “When did she start plotting against me?”

From the day Lin learned the truth, she had never intended to spare a single one of them. She trusted only herself: her own eyes, her own mind, and the conviction that swallowing her anger would betray her dead mother.

On the day Jiang Tong entered the Jiang family gates, beggars throughout the capital cursed her as a wicked woman. By the time she was bedridden and couldn’t even wipe her own mouth, one of her children was dead and the other imprisoned. Lin Tingxue glanced over from afar, then turned to check the accounts. The Marquis’s household still had to prepare for the New Year, the shops needed inspecting, and her younger siblings needed raising. Life had to go on. She had cried and she had hated. Now all that remained was to live well, and let her enemies watch her thrive more than they ever could.
