The Number One Scholar of Great Zhou: From the Start, I Impeached the Chancellor

Li You came through twenty-two years ago and became the newly named top scholar of the Great Zhou, enjoying a moment of unmatched glory.

Before he could enjoy it, he was "noticed" by Chen Fu, the chancellor in power.

Chen Fu: Join my faction, and I'll make you a vice minister in three years.

Li You: Who do you think you are, you treacherous chancellor?

Chen Fu smiles. "You've got guts. Then go be the imperial son-in-law."

Li You: ???

An imperial son-in-law cannot wield real power, become chancellor, or lead troops.

That's the ancestral rule.

The whole court is waiting to see how the newly crowned top scholar will get out of this.

Li You panics for three seconds, then steps forward, straightens his robes, and says with complete seriousness:

"Your Majesty, I impeach Chen Fu for interfering in royal affairs and exceeding his authority. His intentions are punishable by death!"
