Mo Fei was eighteen the year he descended from the mountain. Before his master died, he told him that the Mohist Mechanism City was no legend. It lay beneath the old State of Zhao, where it had sunk three hundred years ago. But his master never told him what lay below the mountain, or what the answer was.
He said only one thing: "Judge whether this age is worth saving."
Mo Fei thought he was looking for a city.
What he found was a fellow traveler: Gongsun Qing, the last heir to the art of Qimen Dunjia. She was searching too, for the truth behind the massacre of the Gongsun family.
He also found a rival, a companion, and a young man from the Gongshu family. The three of them traveled together, passing through nine cities and the Heavenly Abyss, and covering thousands of miles across the southern frontier, the Western Regions, and the Eastern Sea.
Only later did he learn that the nine cities were merely seeds, and that the wilderness lay beyond the heavens.
One man descended the mountain. Three thousand chapters later, he returned.
All to answer that one question.
