The Investiture of the Gods Is Shattered, So I Lead the Rebellious Ones Against the Sages

Jiang Chen spent five hundred years in the Celestial Court as its lowliest ninth-rank registrar. He wiped down the Investiture List, served tea and water, and had Thunder Department star lords press his head down and make him bark like a dog. Until the day the Investiture List shattered. Its fragments merged with his body, and he could sense the location, resentment, and heartbeat of every divine general who had been struck from the list. The Celestial Court ordered him to hunt them down. The sages treated him like a pawn. But he refused. He would bring those “pawns” over to his side, one by one. Nezha, a rebellious young man whose own father had threatened him with the Exquisite Pagoda for countless years. Jiang Chen said, “I’ll smash that damn pagoda for you.” Yang Jian, an aloof god of war who had imprisoned himself for three thousand years, obeying orders but refusing summons. Jiang Chen asked, “If the rules can’t protect the people you want to protect, are they still worth following?” Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, trapped by the Buddhist order on Spirit Mountain for five hundred years. Jiang Chen offered him only a wild peach from Flower-Fruit Mountain, with three words carved into its pit: “Victorious Fighting Buddha.” The three most disobedient rebels in the Celestial Court were brought together by its most pathetic ninth-rank official. From then on... It was time to overturn the sages’ chess game.
