In his first life, Lane gave everything for seven women chosen by fate.
He gave his lifespan to the saintess, took the blame for treason for the princess, took a poisoned blade meant for his childhood friend, suppressed the blood moon for the witch, kept the World Tree alive for the elf, and offered his knightly oath for the dragonkin.
But on the day of judgment, they stood in the Silver Sanctuary.
One passed judgment on him.
One shot him through.
One handed over the evidence herself.
The Son of God, Cecil, edited fate and branded him a traitor to the Abyss.
Lane was nailed to the cross of judgment. With his dying breath, he said only one thing:
“If there's another life, I won't save a single one of them.”
When he opened his eyes again, he was back at the spring banquet in the royal capital.
His childhood friend was attacked, but he took half a step back.
The saintess went blind, and he watched coldly.
The princess was in danger, but he saved only the contract documents.
One by one, they were reborn with regrets, weeping as they begged him to come back.
But Lane opened the Abyssal Ledger of Debts.
The lifespans, bloodlines, military honors, oaths, and reputation they owed him: he would collect every last one.
Old feelings would not be rekindled.
Old debts would be repaid.
In this life, he would not be a knight offered up as a sacrifice.
He would become the Abyssal Lord.
I said this book is pretty good so far. The boss kills everyone in the first game BE. The main and supporting characters all bring sporadic memories into the second game. They resist the boss.
