In 1984, the war in southern Xinjiang was raging. The 19-year-old reconnaissance squad leader Chen Feng showed extraordinary battlefield intuition and combat toughness during the battle on the 103 Highlands on the Laoshan front line, and was selected as the only quota to join the newly formed special operations brigade of the military region. This mysterious force, codenamed "Cang Lang", has assembled the best soldiers in the entire military region. The training is brutal and the missions are high-risk. Every time they are dispatched, they are on the verge of life and death.
From the jungles of southern Xinjiang to the Gobi desert of the northwest, from border counter-terrorism to overseas beheadings, Chen Feng grew up rapidly in the tempering of blood and fire. He is not only proficient in special skills in all subjects such as infiltration, sniping, demolition, fighting, and wild survival, but also shows excellent tactical command talents in actual combat. However, the path of the special forces is far more lonely and dangerous than imagined - there is a cruel elimination mechanism internally, there are cunning and ferocious enemies externally, and there is an invisible international dark war hanging above their heads.
As the international situation changed dramatically in the 1990s, the tasks faced by Chen Feng and his comrades also shifted from traditional battlefields to more complex asymmetric operations: anti-narcotics, anti-hijacking, secret evacuation of overseas Chinese, overseas rescue... Every expedition has no serial number, no military flag, and cannot even leave any official records. They are a group of "transparent people" hidden on the national border, building another Great Wall with their youth and blood.
The story spans from the mid-1980s to the new century, giving a panoramic view of the growth history of a generation of special forces, the transformation history of China's special forces from scratch to elites, as well as the loyalty, sacrifice, love and hatred of soldiers in that great era. The iron bones are strong, but there is also tenderness; wherever the blade points, it means the peace of the family and the country.
