Want to Date Online? I’m Super Sweet!

(Online romance + secret identities + contrasting charm + humor + sweet romance + domineering CEO + workplace + witty banter)

Lin Zhiyi, 24, is a nobody at an ad agency. Her life motto is: “If I can lie down, I won’t sit. If I can get it for free, I won’t pay.”

On a dating app, she gives herself the perfect persona: an overseas-educated elite, earning a million a year, with a toned waist. The guy on the other end, “Drinking Alone Beneath the Moon,” is even more ridiculous. He claims to be a struggling artist, so poor he has to eat dirt, and five foot nine.

In their virtual world, they try to out-act each other, each making up more than the other. It’s like a dating-app version of The Birth of an Actor.

Who could have guessed?

On the day they meet in person, Lin Zhiyi sees the man in front of her arriving in a Maybach and is stunned. “Didn’t you say you were a poor artist?!”

Shen Yan raises an eyebrow, looking amused. “Didn’t you say you were five foot seven? Those heels must be six inches tall.”

Lin Zhiyi: “...I can explain.”

Shen Yan: “Funny, so can I.”

They stare at each other for three seconds, then say in unison, “How about we start over and get to know each other properly?”
