Transmigrated into a County Clerk, with Twin Babies at Home Crying to Be Fed

Su Nian, a finance manager, worked overtime and missed a step. When she opened her eyes, she had become Shen Sanniang, the lowest-ranking female clerk in the Qinghe County yamen. She'd been knocked unconscious, spent three days in a coma, and now had two fatherless children to care for.

Her father-in-law thought she was a burden on the family, her sister-in-law thought she couldn't adapt, and her younger brother-in-law feared her lowly clerical status would tarnish his reputation as he prepared for the imperial examinations. They polished off a whole pot of chicken stew without leaving a single chopstick for her and her children.

Su Nian sneered. In two lifetimes, she had never let anyone balance the books against her at a loss.

In the yamen, there were more rats than people, and the shallow waters teemed with turtles. A clerk with neither money nor connections had only one card to play: excellent handwriting and a head full of accounting expertise. She could spot the tricks in the ledgers at a glance, and was sharper than anyone at figuring out each household's little schemes.

Watch as the county yamen's little widow carves out a path for herself among the men, rising from a female clerk everyone could bully to a legendary figure the whole county respectfully calls “Shen Sanniang.”

Who says a widow's doorstep is always full of trouble? At my doorstep, trouble has to go around me.
