In Shanghai in 1925, Sun Shuqin, a female medical doctor, fought for the right to ask questions and sign in a male-dominated hospital; in Shanghai in 2025, Sun Shuqin, the founder of an AI pharmaceutical company, defended the right to explain amid financing, algorithm bias, and public opinion scrutiny. The two women have no time travel or telepathy, and are only lightly illuminated by their ancestral home, old books, photos and rings.
