A Substitute Bride to Bring Good Fortune: The Sickly Prince Wants to Keep Me All to Himself

In public, he is a useless prince on the brink of death, bedridden and clinging to life. The entire court is waiting for him to breathe his last.

In private, he grips her wrist and says hoarsely, “If you dare run, I’ll die right in front of you.”

Su Jin is the least valued daughter in the capital. Her stepmother sends her off to bring good fortune, making her marry in her elder sister’s place to the “sickly prince” everyone avoids like the plague.

She prepares herself to become a widow, never expecting that the supposedly dying man will sit up in bed the very next day and look at her meaningfully.

Amid the undercurrents of court politics, some want her dead, while others use her as leverage. Only he uses half his realm to shield her from every blade.

Someone asks him, “Your Highness, why favor a mere concubine’s daughter?”

He only replies, “Because she was the only person in the world who didn’t flinch when she first looked at me.”

She entered the household as a substitute bride, a mere piece in a game. In the end, she became the piece in his life he could least bear to move.
