A scheming former top actress and industry mogul × a sweet, pliant songbird

Ling Nuo, a little-known actress, shot to fame overnight. With an astonishing array of top-tier film and TV projects and endorsement deals at her fingertips, her meteoric rise drew envy from her peers in the industry.

At an event, her male co-star casually helped lift the train of her floor-length dress. Someone with ulterior motives maliciously took a screenshot of the kind gesture and paired it with a blurry old photo of her getting into a luxury car. Rival stars and haters seized the opportunity to spread vicious rumors, insisting Ling Nuo had sold herself and attached herself to a wealthy male patron in exchange for resources. A tidal wave of smear campaigns and fabricated scandals swept across the internet.

Ling Nuo took the flood of criticism in stride. She had long accepted that fame came with controversy. But when she got home that night, she found Shen Yiqing sitting in the living room with a frosty expression. Shen had one foot out of the entertainment industry, yet controlled some of its most powerful capital.

“Big Sis, what brings you here?”

Shen Yiqing answered with just two cool words: “Come here.”

Ling Nuo’s heart tightened. She obediently went over and knelt on the floor, the difference in their status plain for all to see.

The mysterious wealthy male patron the public had imagined was nothing but a rumor. Shen Yiqing was the one who had gone all out to make Ling Nuo famous.

Tired of the battles in the limelight but unwilling to leave the entertainment industry for good, Shen Yiqing had chosen the gentle-looking Ling Nuo and carefully groomed her, using her sudden fame to secure her own standing in the industry.

Shen Yiqing hooked a finger under her chin, her voice possessive. “Have you grown wings, little girl?”

…

Ling Nuo hurried to placate her, pressing Shen Yiqing’s hand to her cheek and softly begging for mercy with her lips around her thumb. Shen Yiqing’s eyes darkened. “You’ve gotten pretty good at this. Come with me.”

What began as a bond of ownership built on a deal for mutual gain, and what everyone scorned as a shameless climb to the top, turned out to be a devotion reserved for her alone.
