Are rules a cage or a form of protection? Obeying the rules brings safety, but obey them to the extreme, and a person is no longer human.
Breaking taboos takes courage, but the truth revealed afterward may be even more despairing than the taboos themselves. The story does not ask, "Do you dare break the taboo?" It asks, "When you discover that the one who made the rules is bound by them too, what will you choose?"
