Lin Feng, a handyman disciple of the Qingxuan Sect, has mediocre aptitude and suffers endless humiliation at the hands of his fellow disciples. After being ambushed and falling from Soulfall Cliff, he awakens an ancient remnant soul within his family's heirloom black jade, and the long-lost supreme treasure, the Taixuan Origin-Devouring Scripture, makes its appearance!
He devours the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and absorbs the origin of all things, reshaping his ruined meridians and gaining an aptitude that defies the heavens. The lowly nobody of yesterday transforms into a dragon overnight. Sect rivalries, secret-realm expeditions, and enemies of every stripe all end up beneath his feet.
He meets Wen Xiyue, a sect prodigy born with an innate Dao Body, and they fall for each other. Fighting side by side across the Tianxuan Realm, they overpower the young lord of the Demon Domain, fight their way through the encirclement, and seize a place to ascend.
They enter the Nine Heavens Profound Domain, where prodigies from a hundred territories gather to compete. The upper realm's prodigies mock and suppress them, while the top sects conceal murderous intent. The truth behind the black jade gradually comes to light: Lin Feng is the reincarnation of the ruler of the ancient Heaven-Devouring Divine Kingdom! When the kingdom fell and his family was destroyed, even the allied Wen family was massacred. The culprit was none other than the Tianyan Sacred Sect, foremost among the nine top sects.
He disguises himself and infiltrates the sects, confronts powerful enemies who frame him, and refuses to blunt his edge even when trapped in the death-row prison. Gathering the ancient inheritances and summoning the forces of his former followers, Lin Feng fights his way forward with the woman he loves, sweeps across the nine great sects, and overturns the decaying order.
With the power to devour origins, he sweeps across myriad realms. With the bearing of a peerless prodigy, he claims the pinnacle of the Nine Heavens! In this life, I won't just rise against the heavens. I'll overturn the firmament and bring light and justice to cultivators everywhere!
