“Where are you from? ♪”

In the swaying light, a pink-haired girl smiled softly.

“I… came from a tree.”

The boy remembered nothing, except for a tree whose full shape he could not see.

“Then… what's your name, little one? ♪”

Her lilting voice swayed gently, stirring the breeze that brushed the boy's cheek.

“…”

The boy didn't know. All he felt was a burning pain across his back.

“Then I'll call you… Ling. ♪”

…

Feathers swayed in the air, white as clouds, yet tinged with a hint of color.
