History books left her only seventeen words.
After she died, she was thrown into the lowest level of the Nameless Palace, the deepest part of the Empresses' Tomb. Here, ranks were strictly enforced: virtuous empresses lived in the Heavenly Palace, wicked empresses were imprisoned in the Nether Palace, while she and countless forgotten empresses did not even have names.
Then one day, The History of Empresses began devouring people.
Daji's name vanished from the list of femme fatales. Wei Zifu's ranking plummeted. Lü Zhi's began to rise. Those who were erased would be forgotten by everyone and disappear completely.
Everyone was terrified, wondering who would be next.
Only Gundai noticed something:
She could see what others could not: the cracks in The History of Empresses. Hidden deep within those cracks was a secret:
“Whoever finds the final page can rewrite their own life.”
Wu Zetian arrived. Lü Zhi arrived. Empress Changsun arrived. Everyone wanted to seize the final page.
But Gundai discovered that her seventeen words were not incomplete. Someone had deliberately erased them.
And the person who erased them was standing on a high platform, watching her.
“I have waited a thousand years for you to ask: Why me?”
When the final page appeared, every empress put down her pen.
Gundai walked toward the final page.
First, she wrote her own name.
Then she wrote:
“Please remember us.”
