The Deathspeaker

I can hear the last five seconds of a dead person's memories. Their powers, their secrets, the words they never got to say: they're all in my head. The price is this: every time I borrow them, I gain another person's lifespan and bear another person's death. In the third year of the apocalypse, everyone asks why I keep risking my life. I tell them: Because the dead deserve not to be forgotten.
