Synopsis

Northeastern paper effigy craftsmen practice the most obscure and dangerous of the region’s yin-yang trades, walking the boundary between life and death for generations. Ordinary paper effigies are used for funeral rites, blessings, and guiding the dead, and can suppress evil spirits and soothe restless souls. Forbidden paper effigies can borrow lifespans, bind souls, exchange lives, and conceal malign forces. The trade’s thousand-year-old ancestral rules are: never paint eyes on paper figures, never make paper horses raise their hooves, never leave anyone inside a paper house, and never let paper clothes touch the body. Breaking even one rule brings disaster; disregarding them invites paper demons to cling to you, with life and death hanging in the balance.

How Long Does It Take for a New Writer to Make It? I’ve Been Writing for 54 Days

54 days. I finished my first book on day 45: 320,000 words, writing for 8–12 hours a day. I’m now planning my second book, but nobody’s reading the first one anymore. Is it really that bad? Am I just someone with no talent? (sobbing)

I Have Run Out of Books, Please Recommend Some

Any kind of book is fine, as long as it is good. I especially want fantasy, apocalypse, or infinite-flow stories. Please, no womanizers, domineering live-in husbands, useless protagonists, face-slapping, pretending to be weak while secretly being strong, protagonists who lose the ability to walk when they see a woman, excessive comedy, or protagonists who look like rough, carefree gangsters.
