Journey to the West: Sun Wukong Became a Sage by Slacking Off

I transmigrated as the Great Sage Equal to Heaven and went straight to tearing up the Buddha’s script.

Patriarch Bodhi wanted to teach me the Seventy-Two Transformations? No thanks. Learn them, and I’d have to work for him.

Taibai Jinxing came to recruit me? Not going. I’d just end up as Bimawen.

Tang Sanzang came to rescue me from beneath Five Elements Mountain? Don’t bother. Let me sleep for another five hundred years.

Then I realized

The more I lazed around, the faster my cultivation skyrocketed. The more I refused, the more the gods and Buddhas lost their minds.

The Buddha himself came down to beg me to join the pilgrimage. “Wukong, the group can’t do this without you.”

I rolled over. “Pay me more.”

Later, all three realms were talking about a monkey who lay flat his way to sainthood.

The Jade Emperor was so furious he smashed his imperial seal, and even the Buddha started chanting out of tune.

The premise is simple: when every god and Buddha wants to use you as a pawn, lie flat and they become the joke.
