"Human beings think they are conquering the sea, but in fact the sea already knows everyone's name."
In Bilgewater, human life is worth less than a sea monster's scales. Gangplank fell, and Miss Fortune's gunfire ignited the vacuum of power; the ghostly Pike of Bloodport hunted the powerful in the dark alleys; and the Siren Priest Illaoi knocked on the Golden Dorm to judge souls. The whole city is going crazy for power and money.
Karan doesn't care about that. He was just a down-and-out fisherman who gutted snakes at Tulong Wharf. He just wanted to save a few bloody copper plates and take his sick sister to escape from this rotten city built on the bones of dead whales.
Until that morning, he took out a pale finger bone from the stomach of a deep sea beast. His and his sister's names were engraved on the bones with extremely weird scratches.
From that day on, Karan found that the world had changed. Those who died in the sea are returning to the shore one by one with empty eyes; every "active choice" he makes in order to survive is just a step towards the throne reserved for him in the abyss.
When the annual "Harvest Festival" arrives, black mist and the whisper of the deep sea envelope the entire city at the same time. Facing the indescribable gaze of the ancient god, Karan finally understood that once a name is written in the deep sea, it can never be erased. Unless... He uses his own life to replace his sister's name.
"You smell like the sea... It has memorized you." - Pike.
