From Coder to Hong Kong's Sharpshooter in Just Three Months

Three months ago, Yan Gong was still a coder holed up in a rented apartment, living on instant noodles and fixing bugs. He went to sleep and woke up wearing a police uniform, with a System activated, and the world of Hong Kong movies came crashing through the door.

Infernal Affairs and Young and Dangerous are next-door neighbors, Ah Zi from City Hunter is his partner, and Meng Bo chases him around the docks, shouting, “Bro!” What kind of absurd start is this? Did the screenwriter get drunk on fake liquor?

Other transmigrators get an old master to guide them. He gets a “Crime-Busting System.” His starter pack includes a gene optimization serum. One drink turns him from a scrawny weakling into a beast, and his charm score shoots up to 23. He’s so handsome even the station chief wants to post a nine-grid photo collage of him on social media.

Aboard the Fortune, McDonald leads a gang of American special forces in a hijacking. Yan Gong takes on the lot alone, with two guns, leaping from a second-floor balcony onto the deck. Ten minutes later, the ship is cleared, with fewer than five survivors. By the time a Hong Kong rescue helicopter arrives, he’s already drinking with Ah Zi on deck. “You can clean up here. I’m done.”

Chan Ka-kui slams the table in protest. “I’ve been at this for over a decade and I’m still a low-ranking cop! He’s been here a week and he’s already a sergeant?” The station chief throws a stack of compensation claims at him. “Can you pay for the police cars you wrecked last month? Get out!”

And it gets even more ridiculous: he casually saves Nakamura Keika, casually wins Ah Zi over, and casually steals Meng Bo’s “daughter.” Meng Bo watches Keika link arms with Yan Gong and call him “Zu Ge,” his lips trembling. He can’t bring himself to say a single word of protest.
