Synopsis
Wang Hao, a young man from a small town, arrives in the commercial district of Binhai City with 300 yuan and eight pairs of leather shoes, hoping to make a living as a street vendor. When he stands up to local tyrant Ma Delong's violent forced demolition, his left arm is broken, but he fights on to the end and wins the trust of every shopkeeper on the street.
To gain a foothold, Wang Hao takes a risk and partners with Han Dong, a dockside smuggler, securing a supply of high-quality knockoff shoes and quickly opening up wholesale channels across three neighboring counties. But Zheng Tai, a powerful provincial capital boss backing Ma Delong, brings his forces to bear, and the demolition of the commercial district reaches a stalemate. Worse still, Hu Sanqiang, the “manager” secretly helping Wang Hao, is strangled to death beneath a bridge, and the killer is still at large.
Forced to confront Zheng Tai, Wang Hao offers a budget sheet exposing the corruption as leverage and wins a month to take full charge of the demolition. He leads the shopkeepers in signing agreements that meet government standards, secures a million yuan in compensation, and starts looking for new storefronts for the neighbors who have lost their jobs.
At the same time, he investigates Hu Sanqiang's murder, zeroing in on Chen Liang, Ma Delong's adviser, and fugitive Meng Xianguo. Caught between business warfare, personal loyalties, and blood feuds, Wang Hao grows from a street vendor into a rising commercial star. But every step he takes is on a knife's edge, and the real undercurrents have only just begun to surface.
