[Supernatural Underworld] [Xianxia] [Mystery] [Light Horror and Comedy]
Prologue
"Uncle, are you Xie Bi'an?"
I was engrossed in polishing the little gourd I'd just found, and the sudden voice caught me off guard.
A little girl stood before me. She looked about seven or eight, gazing at me with eager anticipation.
Hold on.
"Are you a living soul?" I asked with a frown.
The girl wasn't frightened at all. "Uncle, are you Xie Bi'an or not?"
Who was Xie Bi'an?
My name was Bai Wu.
Hei Shang was my colleague. We worked together every day, and eventually even our names became intertwined.
Bai Wu, Hei Shang: the Black and White Impermanence.
Ever since we entered the Underworld, the Lord of the Underworld had taken away the names we'd had as humans. I'd been a ghost for over a thousand years, and no one had called me that.
So I ignored her. "I'm in a good mood today, so I'll let this go. Go back where you came from, kid."
I went back to polishing my little gourd.
She didn't move. I was about to get up and chase her off when I saw her pull a plaque from her clothes.
"What? So it was a lie. Adults really never tell the truth," the little girl muttered as she looked at the plaque. Then she disappeared.
I paid her no mind, but then she came back.
"Uncle, do you know Xie Bi'an?" She blinked at me.
I couldn't take it anymore.
"Bai Zi, are you just a decoration? A living soul has appeared twice, and you haven't reacted at all?!" I glared at the silent white feather fan on the table.
It sounded thoroughly aggrieved. "You didn't notice her either. How could I possibly sense her?"
I put down the gourd and walked over to the girl.
"All right, kid. Just tell me what you want with him."
