Synopsis

"Qingxiang Zaji" is a ten-volume note written by Wu Chuhou of the Northern Song Dynasty. It was written in the second year of Yuanyou (1087). It is compiled in the style of "Beimeng Suoyan" and "Guitian Lu". It is one of the important historical notes of the Song Dynasty. The book is based on the experiences of the Five Dynasties and the Northern Song Dynasty, and collects many contents such as the imperial court system, the evolution of the official system, political anecdotes, local folk customs, prophecies and allusions, etc. It also records in detail the origins of the establishment of official positions such as the Pavilion and Zizheng Palace in the Song Dynasty, and fills in the gaps in the official history. The book contains a large number of lost poems and anecdotes by famous officials and scholars of the Song Dynasty, such as Wang Yucheng, Fan Zhongyan, Kou Zhun, Liu Yong, etc. A large number of poems and essays only rely on this book to survive, and it has become a key document for later generations to compile lost Song lyrics and poems. The manufacturing details of the Yansu lotus leakage recorded in Volume 9 are precious first-hand historical materials of ancient Chinese astronomical technology. Although some of the prophecy records are slightly attached, it does not hinder its unique value in correcting historical records and preserving the social style of the Song Dynasty.
