A fanfic of My Senior Brother Is Too Steady
Yuan Ling, an Immortal Venerable and Hongjun's first disciple, stood at the very top of the prehistoric world's seniority hierarchy. She was born when chaos first opened and the Great Dao had yet to take shape. She took form before the Three Pure Ones, Nuwa, Jieyin, and the other primordial divine beings, and was the only direct disciple Hongjun accepted before becoming one with the Dao. Of the Six Sages and One Venerable, she was the Venerable; beneath Hongjun, yet above all immortals and sages. It was universally acknowledged that, apart from the Dao Ancestor, she was first in both power and authority in the prehistoric world.
Hongjun doted on Yuan Ling more than anyone else in the prehistoric world, raising her like his own daughter. Even after becoming one with the Dao, he made an exception for her: she was not bound by the rules of Heaven or required to obey the heavenly laws. Yuan Ling alone could disregard etiquette, and she called Hongjun “old man” all the time. The saints of the heavens and the Innate Demon Gods were all shocked when they heard her, but not one of them dared say a word.
Hongjun explained the supreme Great Dao to her, and she said, “Old man, you're so noisy.”
Hongjun gave her the finest Chaos spiritual roots and treasures, and she said, “Old man, stop stuffing me with things.”
Hongjun asked her to calm the turmoil in the Three Realms, and she said, “Old man, you're always making trouble for me.”
Usually, Hongjun would say:
When chatting with others: “I can't let anyone trample my precious little cabbage. I must raise her well.”
When he saw a spiritual treasure or spiritual root: “My good disciple will surely like this. I'll bring some to her.”
When at last he heard Yuan Ling call him Master: (hiding somewhere with no one around, so happy he nearly cried) “Ling'er finally called me Master! This is wonderful!”
