In 2027, the underground world is ruled by a set of darknet rules called the Black Domain Protocol. Territory, transactions, pursuits, and money laundering can all be redefined by the code. In a dilapidated Internet cafe in Nancheng, Chen Mo appears to be just a good-for-nothing boss waiting to die, but in fact he is a dangerous man who can use neural access to control electronic devices. The massacre of his family seven years ago took away his eldest brother and buried the legacy of a genius hacker code-named Zero in his mind.
When North City gangster Huo Dongsheng moved south with the authority to modify the black domain agreement, Chen Mo was forced to take action again. The gangsters who smashed the place, the countdown rolling across the city, the safe buried in the sewer, the bloody coordinates in the mental hospital, the quantum server in the abandoned subway station, each code clue pushed him back to the center of the truth seven years ago.
But the deeper he investigated, the more Chen Mo discovered that the revenge, anger, and obsession he thought were not all his. He may not be a simple survivor, but the thirteenth container left by Zero for the future. Huo Dongsheng wanted to use the Skynet project to achieve digital immortality, while Zero hid the last backdoor deep in Chen Mo's memory. The underworld, the police, the legacy of the past, the backup of consciousness, the reconstruction of rules, everyone is vying for the final authority of the Black Domain Agreement.
When code can rewrite destiny, when consciousness can be uploaded and copied, Chen Mo must make a choice: become the continuation of Zero, or become the new rule-maker of the Black Domain.
