I Mistook Zhu Yuanzhang for an Undercover Agent from the Start, and I Lost It

After transmigrating to the Hongwu era of the Ming dynasty, Qi Changfeng binds himself to the “Infinite Undercover Survival System.” As long as he funds hostile forces, he’ll receive modern black-tech rewards.

Looking at his cheap father-in-law, “Old Zhu,” who’s always asking about court secrets and radiating bloodlust, Qi Changfeng slaps his thigh. This has to be a top spy sent by an enemy state!

To farm System rewards, Qi Changfeng takes Old Zhu aside every day, gleefully exposing the Ming dynasty’s fatal weaknesses and generously funding him with all kinds of black tech to strengthen his country.

“Old Zhu, the Ming military’s short on funds? Here’s an idea: take some men to seize Japan’s silver mines, then head to the Americas and dig for gold!”

“Old Zhu, Zhu Yuanzhang wants to execute his meritorious officials? Take my advice. Let’s sell this smokeless powder and these Barrett rifles to the Northern Yuan tonight and infuriate that old man!”

Qi Changfeng thought he’d make a fortune through these acts of “aiding the enemy” and then run away with his beloved wife.

Instead, the Ming dynasty’s territory kept expanding until even Japan became a province, and every official at court had a rifled musket.

One day, just as Qi Changfeng was about to take Old Zhu to the Americas to ascend the throne, Old Zhu suddenly changed into a five-clawed golden dragon robe at home.

Old Zhu: “Good son-in-law, no more pretending. I’m Zhu Yuanzhang! Those intelligence reports you gave me were excellent. You can have the Ming emperor’s throne!”

Qi Changfeng looked at the courtyard full of Imperial Guards and was utterly dumbfounded...
