In the seventh year of Daliang Cheng'an, there was a severe drought in the northwest. When Chen Mingyuan, a young man who escaped from famine, was about to die, he was taught half a volume of "Heaven's Secret Policy" by a stranger. From then on, he could use his yin and yang eyes to spy on the fate of heaven and earth - observe Feng Shui, predict disasters, and predict life and death. However, every time a secret is revealed, it comes at the cost of life.
He started out as a tenant farmer, while farming and improving mulberry trees, he studied hard for the imperial examinations, and stepped from a child to the court. When he discovered that the drought was actually caused by man-made destruction of dragon veins, a bigger conspiracy surfaced. Party strife in the court, wars on the frontier, and the emperor's intentions are all tied to the flow of luck. He wants to use the magic of heaven to save the people from fire and water, and he also wants to play with destiny.
"What I plant is not fields, but the lights of thousands of families; what I seek is not officialdom, but peace in the world."
An imaginary epic that combines farming, imperial examinations, and metaphysics. It tells how a commoner boy changed his destiny against the will of nature and established a destiny for the common people.
