Synopsis:

After waking up, he finds himself transmigrated to the late 1950s in the capital, where he has become Xu Damao, a projectionist at the Hongxing Steel Mill!

In an era of scarce supplies, he’s lucky to awaken a “preservation storage space.”

With this cheat at his disposal, Xu Damao begins a leisurely life of quietly making a fortune:

Taking advantage of his job showing films in the countryside, he trades everyday goods at regular prices for villagers’ baskets of wild duck eggs, giant black fish, and game, then sells them at black-market prices for a huge profit! He also trades grain for blue-and-white porcelain jars used to pickle vegetables and small antiques to build up his collection.

As for the beasts in the Siheyuan? Xu Damao’s policy is simple: “Don’t compete, don’t fight.”

When he’s bored, he banters with Silly Zhu for fun. He pulls out a pack of Big Front Gate cigarettes to curry favor with Liu Haizhong and his official-obsessed ways. With Yi Zhonghai, it’s always, “I’ll listen to what you say, but I won’t change.” In his free time, he goes to the public bathhouse to listen to the old-timers chat and have a drink.

In this turbulent era, Xu Damao lives a down-to-earth, comfortable, and carefree life.
