The blue light from the mobile phone screen hurt my eyes, and the words on the screen were more piercing than a knife.
"Customer review: Delivery is so slow, a dog can move faster than you. Bad review."
I stared at this review for a full thirty seconds, my fingers hovering above the screen, wanting to curse back, but not knowing what to curse. This is already the 99th negative review this month, one short of me being forced to be laid off from the platform.
I, Shen Zhou, am twenty-four years old. I have been in the food delivery industry for three years, and now I am driven to the edge of collapse by a bad review.
"Brother Zhou, why don't you take a two-day break?" Fatty Zhao, who was sitting next door, handed over a bottle of water, his face full of sympathy.
I didn't answer. I stared at the screen of my phone, calculating my income for the month. The rent is 2,000 yuan, the food is 1,500 yuan, plus the electricity bill and maintenance of that crappy electric donkey, I can only earn more than 4,000 yuan in a month even if my legs are broken. After deducting the penalty for bad reviews, you get less than 3,000.
I took a deep breath, put my phone in my pocket, stood up and patted my butt: "Fat brother, let me go out and get some air."
"Hey, your eDonkey is still charging-"
"No need."
