I woke up from the pain.
It's not the kind of tearing pain, it's the stuffy, stuffy kind in the chest, like the last breath of air before being buried alive is stuck in your throat and you can't spit it out.
My mind was buzzing and my vision was dark. I subconsciously raised my hand to rub my temples, but my elbow hit something hard, making a dull "thunk" sound.
This sound is wrong.
The top of the head is not empty, only half a foot away.
My breathing suddenly became rapid, and my hands were groping wildly - there were wooden boards all around, cold, solid, and tight-fitting wooden boards. You can't step on the bottom, and what your toes touch is the texture of wood.
