Everyone Worships the Gods, but I Only Pray to the Poor God in a Ruined Temple

In an age when everyone worships gods, incense brings power, and noble clans monopolize the divine seats, the poor can’t even afford to burn a single stick of premium incense. Xu Zhaochen transmigrated here. In his previous life, he was the youngest ritual disciple at a Taoist temple. In this life, he has a poor family, a sick mother, and the worst grades at his spiritual academy. People even laugh at him to his face. While everyone else fights tooth and nail to worship the popular God of Wealth, he walks alone into a ruined temple in a back alley. There, an obscure, down-and-out ancient god has been curled up and forgotten for decades. He washes his hands, lights incense, chants a spell, and makes an offering. The ashes swirl backward. A bronze bell rings by itself. The statue opens its eyes. Others kneel to beg the gods for favors. He invites them to sit down and discuss a partnership. Others crowd around popular gods, fighting until they’re bloody. He worships forgotten gods, turning each one into a future powerhouse. From a poor student everyone looked down on to the sovereign of ten thousand temples spanning the mortal world, the underworld, and Heaven, this time it’s the gods who line up, waiting for him to light their incense.
