The heroine is not a simple revenge heroine, but a clumsy avenger who is backlashed by the truth. The logic of her hatred was completely subverted a third of the way through the story - behind the massacre was evidence of her father's treason and surrender to the enemy, and He Lanzheng's "coldness" was actually the enforcement of military law, loyalty to the country rather than personal grudges. The real villains are the business giants who pretend to be the revolutionary party but are actually colluding with Japan and the pro-Japanese faction lurking within the military government.
