"Under the Begonia Tree" uses the old high school and the begonia tree in the courtyard as clues to tell the story of Chen Lu and Jiang Xiaoyu's regretful youth for half their lives. Chen Lu, who was born in embarrassment and has a reserved personality, encountered campus bullying from Zhao Mingyu and others at the beginning of school. In the gloomy daily life, Jiang Xiaoyu was the only gentle light. The two spent time together under the crabapple tree, healing each other's inner wounds left by their original families, and their ignorant love slowly grew with the crabapple flowers. But campus prejudice and real barriers hit one after another, and the young expectations were missed and helplessly shattered again and again. By the time the begonias bloomed as promised every year, the two of them had already moved on to completely different lives. After all, they couldn't love each other and were separated for the rest of their lives. The book uses the image of begonia to express regrets, and uses campus past events to reveal the profound impact of bullying and native family on the fate of young people, and ends with a regretful BE ending.
