[Two female leads + school life + everyday moments + mutual healing]
My name is Fu Yunli. I'm an ordinary high school student at a private girls' school, average in both grades and looks. I should have spent three uneventful years in high school before setting off into the rest of my life, uncertain of what to do.
But from that day on, everything changed.
During a school-wide cleaning, a bookshelf toppled over, and the student council president, Lin Yu, shielded me with her body. Her long hair fell over my collarbone, her brown eyes were inches away, and her voice sounded like a stream thawing beneath the ice in early spring. After that accident, she barged into my life without warning. She showed up at the bus stop where I waited every day, moved into the house next door, and awkwardly pored over the instructions for fever medicine when I got sick. I was used to being alone, used to relying on no one. But she refused to let me get used to that.
What I didn't know was that none of it was a coincidence. In fourth grade, I'd once stood in front of a girl with a wooden sword and said “No” on her behalf, the word she had never dared to say herself. She remembered me for ten years. Now she was coming toward me, and I couldn't even remember her.
There was someone else by my side, too. Le Cheng, my childhood friend, who had been with me since kindergarten. She formed a band for me, turned her feelings into songs, and stayed by my side whenever I hit a low point. She said she would always protect me until someone came along who could accept me completely. And when that person appeared, she made her choice.
This is a story about salvation and being saved. A once-brilliant light learns to shine again in the darkness, while the person it once illuminated is slowly becoming a light of her own.
