Everyday Photography in My Little Pony

(I write whatever I dream up + everyday life + debut author. A lot of this novel is written for my own enjoyment, so please don't blame me if you don't like it.)

Is it reasonable to transmigrate into My Little Pony when I haven't even seen the original?

Shutter is a pale cream-colored unicorn. He has all his memories from his previous life, but no idea what world he's transmigrated into. His only golden finger is a camera. Yes, the kind that takes pictures. It can't fight monsters or level up.

But he never expected the camera to eat a star made of tears in Cloudsdale a thousand years ago, and then... awaken.

“Stop flashing your aperture at me! I know you're making fun of me!”

What he didn't expect either was that, on the day of the entrance exam, a rainbow burst across the sky. Six ponies got their Cutie Marks at once, and his camera captured the source of the magic of friendship in a single shot. Princess Celestia looked at him and said, “A thousand years.” At the time, he thought she was just being polite.

Later, he went to Ponyville and looked after a young Pegasus named Scootaloo.

Until another pony just like him stepped out of the mirror.

That pony's power was “Erasure,” representing every moment when Shutter hadn't pressed the shutter. His name was Gray Frame.

“If you don't remember me, then I never existed.”

Shutter pressed the shutter, and Gray Frame faded away, leaving behind a photograph.

The past was tears, the present is a photograph, and the future... hasn't arrived yet.

But he knows that recording the world is, in itself, the greatest magic.
