An amnesiac transmigrator becomes the proprietor of an inn and discovers he is the forty-eighth “Hong Family innkeeper.” All forty-seven before him have disappeared. As he scrambles to pay off debts, crack the System, and uncover the truth about his predecessors, he forms bonds of life and death with the bookkeeper, a dishwashing boy who pretends to be foolish, a female guest investigating a case, and a chef missing a finger. In the end, he chooses not to escape the inn, but to make it a home.
