In 1932, Lin Wangxi, a fisherman girl from Chenghai, jumped on a red-headed boat and sailed to the Southeast Asia alone. She worked odd jobs in Chinatown in Bangkok, Siam, to survive. She struggled side by side with Chen Huaizhou, a fellow Chaozhou laborer, from killing each other to falling in love, and from abject poverty.
