Yinghuo 2076

(Science fiction) (Ethical drama) (Not a wish-fulfillment story) (No face-slapping) (Slow-paced) Beneath the ice of Mars’s Lake Qiming, an impossible dark red patch is spreading.

In 2076, humanity maintains a fragile balance inside the Martian domes, calibrated to three decimal places. During a routine inspection, Lin Yuanheng, head of the Ecological Maintenance Department, discovers abnormal microbial activity. It isn’t one of the synthetic strains they planted six years ago, but signs of life originating from Mars itself.

The deeper he digs, the more resistance he encounters: deleted logs, an administrative maze full of obstacles, and seventeen anomaly reports from the past three years that the System has purged. The United Government calls it equipment error. His colleagues say Martian life “was always there.” Meanwhile, secret samples from the Interstellar Resources Group are being sent to Earth through channels that bypass every official route.

As the lies inside the domes begin to crumble, Lin Yuanheng must choose: keep being an engineer who believes only in data, or become the first to admit that humanity is not the only life on this red planet.
