The Mad Actor: I Perform Ghost Operas in the Yellow Springs

One Nuo exorcism routs a hundred ghosts; one dance determines the fate of heaven and earth.

A beat of the gong and drum sends demons and monsters fleeing. Dancing through fire, I pray for peace upon the mortal world.

While others battle through trials to survive, I take the stage with four arts: opera, painting, calligraphy, and craftsmanship.

Onstage, I’m a star who dazzles across the ages. Offstage, I’m a laid-back loafer.

Gods and ghosts across the heavens, along with every kind of eerie being, all become actors in my script.
