Dragon Raja VI: Crown of the Mourning Dead

This is an unofficial fan continuation based on the original world of Dragon Raja.

First, I would like to thank Jiang Nan. He wrote Dragon Raja, and brought us Lu Mingfei, Chu Zihang, Nono, Caesar, Fenrir, Lu Mingze, as well as Lao Tang, Xia Mi, Erii, and all the other characters who have stayed in the hearts of countless readers. To me, Dragon Raja is more than just a novel. It kept me company through my youth, and for many years, it left me with a full stop that never quite came.

I’m writing this fan fiction neither to pass it off as the original nor to give anyone a so-called “official answer.” I’m simply a reader who once loved Dragon Raja deeply, hoping to write an ending of my own while respecting the original characters and emotions.

This story picks up where the old serialized version of Dragon Raja V: The Return of the Mourner left off, continuing from where it was unfinished. It will revisit the relationship between Lu Mingfei and Lu Mingze, the rainy night of Chu Zihang and Odin, why Nono was bound by fate, and the ultimate answers behind the Black King and the throne. And it will remember those who have already left us.

I don’t want to write a shallow happily-ever-after, nor do I want to make the story sad just for the sake of it. I simply want an answer for myself, and an answer for the youth that Dragon Raja once illuminated.

May this be not a substitute for the original, but a reader’s letter in reply, many years overdue.
