I Delivered Food and Brought a Dragon Bone to My Late Mother

[Mystery and the Supernatural] [Urban Legends] [Folk Beasts] [No System] [Delivery Rider] [Extreme Self-Healing]

Three months after his former company framed him and got him fired, Zhou Yan had only 8.6 yuan left in his bank account. His mortgage payment had bounced, a breakup message popped up, and the food delivery station manager was still nagging him to finish his last three orders.

At midnight, the platform assigned him a high-paying delivery worth 1,888 yuan.

The pickup was at the rear entrance of a cold-storage warehouse. The drop-off was at an abandoned building in an urban village. The only note said: Wooden box. Keep it dry.

As soon as he delivered the wooden box, it split open by itself. Inside was a section of dragon bone that seemed to breathe. A splinter cut his arm, but the wound closed on its own in twenty seconds. Beneath his skin, a patch of gray-white scales remained.

His phone vibrated. The platform assigned him another order: Return the “original” to Room 1202, Building 17, Zhongjiang Gardens. The recipient was his mother, who had been dead for two years.

He didn't know that the dragon bone was only the first. A qilin's horn, a mountain god's soil, a river lord's scales: monsters misremembered as myths were being delivered through food orders to every pipe in the city. Someone had been assigning these orders through the System for more than two hundred years.

Zhou Yan survived. But with every act of self-healing, he became more like the next package waiting to be signed for.
