The alarm clock rang.
At exactly 12 o'clock in the morning, the white light from the mobile phone screen stung my eyes.
I climbed out of bed and stepped on the floor with my bare feet. The March tiles were so cold that my toes curled up. The lights in the living room were not turned on, and only a little orange light from the street lamp outside the window shone on the furry figure on the sofa.
The golden retriever was lying there, with his two front paws on the armrest of the sofa, his head resting on his paws, and he was sleeping soundly.
I walked over, squatted down as usual, reached out and touched its head. The fur is very soft and you can feel its warm body temperature under your palms. The golden retriever's ears moved but he didn't wake up.
Since Lu Chen first became like this half a year ago, I have to do the same thing at twelve o'clock every night.
I leaned down and put my lips on the golden retriever's forehead.
One second, two seconds.
The hair under his palms began to feel hot, and the golden retriever's body trembled slightly, as if something was surging under the fur. I took a half step back and watched the golden light emerge from its body. The warm yellow halo enveloped the entire golden retriever, and then quickly shrank and condensed, as if it had been sucked away by something.
The moment the light dissipated, Lu Chen was lying on the sofa, his slender legs resting on the armrest, and two buttons of his white shirt were unbuttoned, revealing a section of his collarbone. His hair was a little messy, his closed eyes slowly opened, and his dark brown pupils were still confused as if he had just woken up.
"Shengsheng?" His voice was a little hoarse, "Have I changed back?"
"Yeah." I responded and reached out to pull him, "Get up, don't sleep on the sofa, what to do if you catch a cold."
