She Protected Me for Seven Lifetimes, Yet She Isn't Even My Sister

Across seven cycles of reincarnation, she watched over me in every life.

I always thought she was my younger sister.

Until my master said, on his deathbed, “Trust her. Don’t make her count alone.”

Every day, she would take out that blue thread and wind it around a button, counting one loop at a time. Sixty-seven loops, never one less.

I asked her what she was counting.

She wouldn’t tell me.

Only later did I learn she wasn’t counting loops, but the time she had left to live.

My name is Rex. I’m a half-breed, born of the wolf and vampire races, and the “forbidden child” hunted by both. The two bloodlines in my body clashed, and everyone said I was useless.

Only she followed me barefoot through the snow, all the way from the Northern Territories to the south.

She said that the meaning of her life was to watch over me.

But she isn’t my sister.

Then who is she?

The secret of seven lifetimes lies hidden in that blue thread. This time, it’s my turn.
