After opening a copy of A Collection of Campus Horror Stories, Wen Su, an ordinary college student, woke to find himself standing outside Room 404 in the boys’ dormitory at Guiming No. 1 High School.
Six dormitory rules were posted on the door: lights out at eleven sharp; do not get out of bed after lights out; do not use the bathroom; if you hear someone under your bed calling your name, never answer.
This was a Chinese-style boarding high school, as well as an infinite-instance world made up of nine campus ghost stories. Dormitories, classrooms, cafeterias, libraries, evening study sessions, exams, offices, sports grounds, graduation ceremonies... Every familiar corner of campus concealed a set of unreasonable rules that still had to be obeyed.
Those who died vanished from the instances, and everyone gradually forgot they had ever existed. Only inexplicable traces remained: a bed, a name in the register, a soap mark, an empty seat.
Wen Su had to clear all nine instances and unlock the collection’s table of contents before he could return to Blue Star.
But as he opened the stories one by one, he gradually realized that the collection hadn’t chosen him at random. And Guiming No. 1 High School was not a school with no connection to him.
The first part is okay, the middle part is okay, and the last part is okay. The author is a bit too crazy.
