Korean Showbiz: The King of Old

Fifteen years ago, he was the designated center of a top Korean boy band, an all-around ace with the stage name KING.

The night before his debut, one line, “Chinese pop is the coolest,” got him blacklisted overnight by the industry’s power brokers. They erased every trace of him, saddled him with a ruinous penalty, and sent him back to China.

Fifteen years later, he is the quietest laborer on a construction site.

Then someone uses his photo as a gaming avatar, and gets kicked out of the room seventeen times in an hour.

The video goes viral. The whole internet goes wild.

Millions of netizens dig into the past, uncovering deliberately destroyed training footage, shelved original Chinese pop songs, and a shocking scandal buried from view.

His former teammates fall silent. The power brokers reach out.

But the man who lifts his head at the construction site, revealing half his profile, says only one thing:

“I’m no KING.”

Yet no one can mistake his aura.
