After Dark Star came to dominate the region, its four leaders divided the territory among themselves. The eastern territory belonged to the fire-wielding "Thunder Tiger (Ru Yan)," the western territory to the wind-wielding "Tornado (Lin Fei)," and the southern and northern territories respectively to the metal-wielding "Iron Mask (Qiao Bi'an)" and the earth-wielding "Black Face (Li Nanyi)." The world fell under the rule of these four. To consolidate their positions, they often forcibly took ability users away to train them for their own use, killing anyone who refused on the spot. The people suffered miserably under the four tyrants, living in dire poverty. The protagonist, Li Yi, leads Shen Shi, Jiao Jiao, and like-minded ability users in a campaign against the tyrants to overthrow their rule.
