Cutting Through the Three Kingdoms: Cavalry Rules the World

The protagonist, Ma Jun, courtesy name Guanjun, grew up on horseback. He sells his ranch at Malanwu in Wuwei, in the northwest, and heads to Changsha to seek refuge. He brings three prized horses left by his father: the sweat-blood horse Yinzi, the Xiliang warhorse Heihu, and the Hexi steed Tielang. By chance, he awakens the special ability to produce ten horses a day. He establishes a horse ranch in the mountains of Lingling, kills Qu Xing, Zhou Chao, and Guo Shi, and presents the sweat-blood horse to the young emperor, earning an appointment as Administrator of Changsha. He then rises rapidly, takes control of the lands south of the Yangtze, and places Wang Rui, Administrator of Jingzhou, under house arrest. Marching north to aid the emperor, he sets an ambush to kill Dong Zhuo, preserves the foundations of the Han dynasty, enthrones Liu Bian, and consolidates the Eastern Han government, fulfilling his father’s wish to inscribe their family name on Mount Langju Xu. In the end, the whole realm submits, the young emperor abdicates in his favor, and Ma Jun ascends the throne. The novel focuses on cavalry battles, special operations, naval warfare, and crossbow units, and features many military concepts and ingenious ideas. Its military technology is hard-core, so readers who enjoy that sort of thing should keep an eye on it.
