Su Jin, a medical school graduate, opens her eyes to find herself stuffed into a bridal sedan.
A proxy bride. Her stepsister ran away, so Su Jin has to take her place.
The groom is the third prince, exiled to a remote region and poisoned. He has only thirty percent of his martial arts left, and ten percent of his temper.
Su Jin thinks: Fine, I'll cure him first.
She detoxifies him, gives him acupuncture, and nurses him back to health, slowly pulling him from the jaws of death. Along the way, she deals with everyone trying to harm him, too.
But the longer she treats him, the more she realizes something is off.
The way he looks at her is getting more and more suspicious.
Until one late night, the third prince corners her against a wall and says in a husky voice:
“You cured me, so now you think you can run away?”
Later, the third prince returns to the capital and gains power over the court.
His stepmother is consumed with regret, and his stepsister's eyes turn red with envy.
Only Su Jin knows the truth:
This man, whom the whole realm kneels before, refuses to leave her room every night.
