Back to 1979: Go Easy on Me, My Rough-Hewn Husband

In 1979, in a mountain village in Northeast China, Su Bei is reborn as a doomed young woman whose parents trade her for a bride price.

That single payment gets her a burly, well-built husband who stands six feet tall.

On their wedding night, the man heats the kang and moves out to sleep in the corn shed.

Everyone thinks he must despise his arranged bride.

Only after spending time with him does Su Bei understand: the cold, rugged man sleeps apart to avoid imposing on the woman he loves. In the years that follow, through every bitter winter, he works to support the family and protect his wife, spoiling her until she becomes the most carefree treasure in the mountains.
